Well that was awkward. The extra long bloggy vacation I took, I mean. I really had no plans of ever going that long without a single post, but it turns out being a homeowner is a much greater tackle than I imagined! We're still getting settled in and some days it feels like we will never be finished, but I finally feel like I'm at a point in my life where there are no deadlines! YAY! But here's a little slice of what my last two weeks have been like (minus the chaos).

First of all, we thought (for reasons unknown) that it would be a simple act of kindness to dog-sit my sister in law's new (3 month old) puppy during the last week of our move from the old house. We loved having her, but keeping up with two puppies, 3 months and 9 months old, was an overwhelming handful. That and the fact that the little stinker peed on our new comforter, but all was forgiven with kissy licks and waggy tails and it all came out of the comforter.

We moved in with my mom for a few days until we were able to close on our new house and move in. Moving twice was not the most fun thing in the world, but we are thankful to have family that was so generous in letting us stay somewhere as well as helping us move two weekends in a row. Bear was quite confused for those few days, and I think he's finally just now adjusting to his new house (but the yard, he warmed up to just fine).

We kept a trailer loaded down with furniture and boxes in the large garage/office building of a generous friend of a family member. Also inside that garage was a Mustang Shelby GT 500. Needless to say, hubby was thrilled when he got to rev it up.

We spent a few days painting and ripping up the carpets. Underneath the carpets we found gorgeous hardwood floors that surprisingly did not need any elbow grease from us! This is a view of our bedroom, we have three gray walls and one greeny-yellow wall. I'm in love with it.

Poor little Bear was so worn out after all the excitement of moving day. He just couldn't hold his eyes open any longer.

I've been unpacking my studio / closet room this week and I loved unpacking these pretty little things that I haven't seen in over a year. I never even got to unpack my studio things in our previous rental house. There may be some more Etsy listings appearing soon.

Amongst all of the craziness due to all the boxes in our house, and also due the high levels of stress I've been getting from work, we decided to take some time for ourselves. We talked and decided life should definitely not be put on hold just because we have some boxes to unpack, so made a point of taking some time to go out with friends and it was great. A much needed getaway from the chaos.

And because I felt like I didn't have enough going on in my life, I decided to add some lifestyle changes to the mix too. I've been reading some pretty inspirational fitness blogs and I've been feeling really motivated. I've been planning out meals and snacks for the week, making sure I eat small and often and drink all my water for the day. It's kind of addicting, but I think that's a good thing. Turns out you can't eat like a high schooler forever, and also that you have to work harder to stay active.

And that's basically life lately.

Q & A with Meredith from All Dressed Up

First of all, can I just say how excited I am to be here at Jessica Chronicled today! I am Meredith and I blog over at All Dressed Up. I love reading Jessica's blog and I think her style is adorable.

What do you blog about?

I started blogging because of a web design class I took in college. My class ended, but my blog didn’t. I loved what I was doing!! I have so much fun blogging and meeting other bloggers. I blog about my personal style, the occasional recipe, and other lovely things going on around me.

How would you describe your personal style?

I consider myself to have a classic style with a bit of spunk. Having a dress code for work is not my favorite thing in the world but I am still able to find things that I feel represent me well. I love dresses and skirts- usually high waisted ones- and since my husband is 6’4” and I am 5’5” I usually wear high heels or wedges every day. Starting my blog has really helped me be more aware of what I am wearing. I used to buy a lot of clothes in black and while they were very cute clothes- it was still a lot of black. One of my goals with my blog was to incorporate more color into my outfits.

What is your go-to outfit?

I love to wear dresses and skirts. Anything with lace or chiffon I usually love. I find wedges to be the most comfortable and I am growing my collection faster than my husband would like. I also love chunky necklaces and watches. I am a big fan of cardigans and skinny belts. Mix all of that up and you will find my go to outfit.

Where do you go for fashion inspiration?

Of course, I get a lot of inspiration from other bloggers! I also spend way too much time on Pinterest- pinning outfits that I love. I am subscribed to “Women’s Wear Daily” and I love seeing what the designers are presenting. “Women’s Wear Daily” has a great mix of retail business articles and showing what is going on in the fashion world.
